Acadian Memorial Foundation

The Mission of the Acadian Memorial is to memorialize and document the individuals of the Acadian Exile who came to Louisiana in the mid-eighteenth century, found refuge and established a new life and a distinct culture. This is accomplished through four venues: first, a mural depicting approximately forty figures representing actual Acadian refugees in the time period in which they arrived in Louisiana; second, a wall of names identifying more than three thousand individuals who can be documented as Acadian refugees in Louisiana records; third, an eternal flame burning in memory of all exiled Acadians; and fourth, an archive for collecting and disseminating factual information about the individuals.
