Match Challenge Donations

Match Challenge Donations

Generous donors have given what's called a "Match Challenge" to several organizations participating in South Louisiana Giving Day. Nearly $400,000 in match challenge donations have been secured for more than 15 organizations. A match challenge allows an organization to double their donations through South Louisiana Giving Day. Beginning on Monday, March 12, a donor can schedule a contribution to help these organizations win their match. Click here to make a donation.

The Church Academy Receives $50,000 Matching Grant Earmarked for South Louisiana Giving Day

LAFAYETTE, LA - William C. Schumacher Family Foundation awards a $50,000 matching grant to The Church Academy, an affiliate of Bridge Ministry of Acadiana. The matching grant award supports Bridge Ministry of Acadiana’s capital campaign through the South Louisiana (SOLA) Giving Day on May 10.  The capital campaign raises funds for The Church Academy’s facility, afterschool care and scholarship needs. Details are available through Bridge Ministry of Acadiana’s organization profile, which is found at

Bridge Ministry of Acadiana empowers the under-resourced and promotes social responsibility, offering programs to adults and to students ranging from 4th to 12th grade. The organization aims to evoke change through spiritual transformation, education and neighborhood revitalization.

"Generational poverty greatly effects the education of countless children in our 'four-corners' community,” said Joel Greene III, executive director of Bridge Ministry of Acadiana. “Investing in these precious young champions through the very generous matching grant from the William C. Schumacher Family Foundation allows Bridge Ministry of Acadiana and the newly-formed The Church Academy to advance our students from notoriously poor academic performers to over-achievers with Christ-like character.”

“This matching grant opportunity offers children in our community the access to education they deserve, and it is in support of our foundation’s Mission” says Dr. Schumacher of the William C. Schumacher Family Foundation.  “The Church Academy is clearly investing in the future of our youth in a meaningful way, and so we proudly support this school and humbly request the community’s consideration of this matching grant opportunity.”

SOLA Giving Day is being held on Thursday, May 10. It begins at midnight and ends at 11:59:59 pm CST. This is an online, fundraising event focused on inspiring charity in the community. For a 24-hour period, the community is being asked to contribute charitable dollars to local nonprofit organizations, churches and schools.

The donation process through SOLA Giving Day is flexible and simple, including the ability to schedule tax-deductible donations as early as March 12 or to donate on May 10. Donors may participate by visiting, via their personal computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone.
